ARCRI Radio Amateurs at the Solferino Torchlight Procession 2025
From June 19 to 21, 2025, the International Association of Red Cross Radio Amateurs (ARCRI – www.arcri.org) will take part in the Solferino Torchlight Procession with a special amateur radio station, operating directly from the CRI Village, the beating heart of the event.
The special callsign II2RC will be activated for the occasion and is internationally recognized. Radio contacts will take place on the main amateur radio bands to celebrate the spirit of humanity, neutrality, and volunteerism that defines the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The Solferino Torchlight Procession, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, is a symbolic and highly attended event that commemorates the march of volunteers who provided aid to the wounded after the Battle of Solferino and San Martino on June 24, 1859. This historic episode inspired Henry Dunant to write the book “A Memory of Solferino”, which ultimately led to the founding of the International Red Cross and the Geneva Conventions.
As in previous years, the radio operations will be led by ARCRI volunteers—skilled and passionate radio operators dedicated to promoting the values of the Red Cross through the airwaves.
A special thanks goes to our sponsors, whose technical and logistical support makes this initiative possible.
We look forward to hearing you on the airwaves—in the name of solidarity!
